What Causes Nasal Obstruction & Congestion?

Nasal obstruction and congestion can often occur together, but can also be caused by separate issues. Nasal obstructions can be caused by structural issues in the nose including a deviated septum, swollen turbinates, and benign growths in the nose’s internal tissues. Nasal congestion, on the other hand, is often a result of chronic sinus problems or allergies caused by sensitivity to environmental factors. While nasal obstruction can commonly cause nasal congestion, it is not common that nasal congestion causes nasal obstruction.

What are the Dangers of Nasal Obstruction & Congestion?

While nasal obstruction and congestion within themselves aren’t a dangerous issue, they may lead to additional symptoms that can cause concerns over a period of time.
